Orange County Bridge closing June 12-15
| HILLSBOROUGH – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close the Orange Grove Bridge over Interstate 40 in Orange County on June 12 for a bridge rehabilitation project. Crews from Lane Construction Company of Connecticut will reopen the bridge on Monday, June 15 to a single lane of traffic. During the closure, vehicles will detour to New Grady Brown School Road to Dimmocks Mill Road to Eno Mountain Road while the bridge is repaired. Once one lane is reopened, traffic will remain in a single lane until Saturday, June 27. A temporary traffic signal and highway flaggers will direct traffic through the single lane during the closure. The bridge closure is part of the 11-mile, $236 million I-40 widening project in Orange County. Drivers should allow additional time for travel, avoid distracted driving and obey all posted traffic signs while traveling in the area.
