Public Workshop and Public Comment Period for Input on Central Pines Rural Planning Organization’s Draft Local Input Points Assignments

Public comment is invited on the Draft List of Projects at the Regional and Division tier to receive local input points in Lee County and the non-metropolitan parts of Chatham, Moore and Orange counties. The Public Comment Period will begin July 27th, 2026, and end on August 10, 2026.

The draft lists and CPRPO’s local input points methodology are also posted on the CPRPO’s website. Written comments can be sent by mail or electronically to Karyl Fuller, 4307 Emperor Blvd., Durham, NC 27703 or KFuller@centralpinesnc.gov.

There will be additional Public Involvement events including a Public Workshop and a Public Hearing. The Public Workshop will be held on August 3th from 2 PM – 4 PM at Holmes Meeting Room, Chatham Community Library, 197 NC Hwy 87 N, Pittsboro, NC 27312. It will be drop-in, workshop format and include an opportunity for participants to provide written comments and ask questions. Also, there will be a Public Hearing held at the beginning of CPRPO’s TAC meeting on August 13th, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Buggy Conference Room, 115 Chatham St. (come in the back), Sanford, NC.

Public Comment Period on Central Pines Rural Planning Organization’s Draft Transportation Project Prioritization Process

This methodology will be used by Central Pines RPO to give local input to the NC Department of Transportation on which transportation projects are the highest priority in our area. The Prioritization process covers all modes of transportation. The methodology will apply to proposed projects in Lee County, and the non-metropolitan portions of Chatham, Moore and Orange Counties.

The public is welcome to submit comments on this document. Comments can be sent by email to kfuller@centralpinesnc.gov or mail to Karyl Fuller, Central Pines RPO, 4307 Emperor Blvd, Suite 110, Durham, NC 27703. These written comments must be received by 5:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026. Comments can also be given during the Public Hearing that will be held during the April 9, 2026 RTAC meeting, which will begin at 12:00 PM at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center, 1801 Nash Street, Sanford, NC.

Public Comment Period Open from July 22 – August 5, 2025 for draft Transportation Project Submittal Lists

A 14-day public comment period is now open and will continue through August 5, 2025, for all proposed project lists under consideration for submission to NCDOT for P8.0 scoring. This includes projects for highways, bike and pedestrian facilities, public transit, rail, and aviation. See the project lists here.

These lists will be consolidated into one draft slate of up to 14 projects each in aviation, bicycle and pedestrian, highway, rail and transit by the RTCC Prioritization sub-Committee. CPRPO’s RTCC will then review and then RTAC will vote on the draft slate at its August 14, 2025 meeting. A public hearing will be held at the RTAC meeting at 12:00 PM in the Buggy Conference Room, 115 Chatham St., Sanford, NC.
