| HILLSBOROUGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation are set to close the exit ramp from Interstate 85 South to I-40 East (Exit 163) this week. Beginning the morning of Dec. 18, crews will close the ramp for asphalt paving. The off-ramp is scheduled to reopen by Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., weather permitting. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic to take Exit 161 (U.S. 70 East) and then take the ramp for I-40 East/I-85 North. Temporary Road Closure Upcoming in Orange County
| CHAPEL HILL – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a stretch of New Hope Church Road in Chapel Hill this week, weather permitting. Beginning Nov. 19 at midnight, crews will close both directions of New Hope Church Road between Old N.C. 86 and N.C. 86 near Interstate 40 to conduct bridge rehabilitation work. The road is scheduled to reopen by Nov. 22 at 10 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to check DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic updates and utilize the following detours: Southbound traffic: Turn left onto N.C. 86, right on Eubanks Road and then right on Old N.C. 86. Overnight Closures Scheduled for Orange County Highway
HILLSBOROUGH – Overnight closures are scheduled to start tomorrow night as part of ongoing work for the I-40 Widening Project.
Weather permitting, from 10 p.m.─ 5 a.m. Old N.C. 86 at I-40 will be closed for bridge demolition work. The closure will be in place nightly Sunday through Friday until March 30.
A signed detour will direct traffic around the closure utilizing Waterstone Drive, N.C. 86, and New Hope Church Road.
NCDOT officials urge drivers to factor these construction activities into their trip and remain alert throughout the work zone.

Long Term Closure Scheduled for Orange County Road
CHAPEL HILL – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close a portion of a road in Orange County for about four months for a bridge widening project.
Beginning at 11 p.m. on March 10, Millhouse Road will be closed near New Jericho Road and Cell Tower Drive to allow crews to safely widen the existing Interstate 40 bridges over Millhouse Road. This work is part of the I-40 project to widen the highway from four lanes to six. Work on this section is expected to be complete in July.
During the closure a signed detour will guide drivers around the closure utilizing Eubanks Road and N.C. 86.
Drivers are advised to use extra caution and plan accordingly for delays due to the detour.

All Way Stop Coming to Orange County Intersection
| CHAPEL HILL – An all-way stop will be installed to improve safety at an Orange County intersection. State transportation crews are scheduled to make the traffic change Tuesday at the intersection of Dodson’s Crossroads and Dairyland Road. The work will start around 9 a.m. and is scheduled to be complete early afternoon, weather permitting. Currently, only drivers on Dodson’s Crossroads must stop. The all-way stop is the result of a recent NCDOT engineering study of roadway crashes and incidents at this intersection.
